Every once in a while, an event comes along that reminds me exactly why I fell in love with this business. Lauren & Jake's wedding celebration was one of those. A love story told partly through paper, texture, and intentional details that make everything feel personal and unique.

From our very first conversation, Lauren and Jake knew they wanted their stationery to feel meaningful and rooted in place. Though neither of them is originally from Michigan, they both found themselves in Ann Arbor to finish school — and somewhere along the way, they fell in love not only with each other but also with the city that brought them together. Their hope was to share that sense of place with their family and friends throughout the wedding weekend, weaving Ann Arbor into the heart of their design. They were also drawn to the idea of handmade and hand-drawn details, a theme that carried beautifully through the entire suite.

Their save the dates set the tone for the rest of the event. A romantic, flowing script with the black-and-white engagement photos and envelopes featuring a custom illustration of their venue. It felt classic and personal.

When it came time for the invitations, we carried forward those same graceful typefaces and added new layers of detail. The three-piece suite included a letterpressed invitation card framed by soft floral illustrations, a custom map highlighting Lauren and Jake’s favorite Ann Arbor spots, and an RSVP card that echoed the florals from the envelope liner. We finished the set with a coordinating belly band featuring the venue sketch from their Save the Dates.

For the day-of stationery, we built upon their established design “brand.” We created a subtle pattern inspired by the invitation florals for the back of the seating display and signature cocktail signage. Lauren and Jake also wanted to include sentimental details — and, of course, their adorable dog, Ringo. We designed custom cocktail napkins featuring Ringo’s portrait, engraved their cake-cutting set, and helped Lauren transform a collection of vintage handkerchiefs into embroidered “happy tears” keepsakes for her family.

To bring it all together, we created a custom linen welcome sign, a playful selfie mirror for the dance floor, personalized dinner menus featuring each guest’s name, and rattan table numbers that added a natural, elegant texture to the reception tablescape.

One of my favorite details was the couple’s “love notes” display — a place where guests could write messages for Lauren and Jake to frame in their home. We applied the venue sketch to the glass and mounted the love notes behind it, creating a one-of-a-kind keepsake that beautifully captures both their story and the people who celebrated it with them.

Lauren and Jake’s wedding was the perfect reminder that stationery isn’t just paper — it’s storytelling. Every detail, from the first Save the Date to the last note of the night, told a piece of who they are and the place they now call home.
