A & J : Two Celebrations, One Love Story

ree

Every project I take on is meaningful in its own way, but this one was extra special — because it was for family. Designing a stationery suite for people you love adds a whole new layer of care, emotion, and (let’s be honest) pressure. But it also makes the creative process even more rewarding.

This wedding unfolded in two parts: a beautiful, intimate ceremony, followed by a lively Western-themed reception months later. Each celebration with its own personality, but tied together through cohesive design and thoughtful storytelling.

For the ceremony, we created custom invitation boxes for each family member — something truly personal that felt like a gift in itself. Inside, each box held a three-piece suite wrapped in a delicate petal-fold envelope, plus a disposable camera complete with a custom wrap designed just for the occasion. It was such a fun, nostalgic touch that encouraged everyone to capture little moments throughout the day; a perfect reflection of the couple’s sentimental, family-centered spirit.

Then came part two: the September reception, hosted at the family’s horse farm and winery. For this celebration, we shifted gears into something more playful and relaxed, fully embracing the Western-inspired aesthetic of the venue. The invitation suite blended natural textures and rustic charm with refined touches, creating the perfect balance between elegance and personality.

My favorite detail was the watercolor envelope liner, a hand-painted scene of the property that later became a keepsake print for the couple and their family. It was the perfect way to bring their story full circle, transforming a functional design element into a piece of art that will be treasured long after the final toast.

This project was such a joyful reminder of why I do what I do. Whether it’s a box full of stationery and film cameras or a watercolor memento of home, great design doesn’t just tell a story — it becomes a part of it.
